Tell Sacramento: Support Our Schools. Pass SB 931.
When California extended Diablo Canyon's operations through 2030, it forgot the community that hosts the plant. The funding that supported our schools, fire, and emergency services was allowed to lapse.
San Luis Coastal has cut $10 million in services over the last two years. Counseling, library, math and reading intervention, athletics, and music programs have all been reduced or eliminated.
It takes about 3 minutes.
We've been working with Senator John Laird and Assemblymember Dawn Addis on clean-up legislation to fix this: Senate Bill (SB) 931. The bill extends mitigation fund payments to the County and schools, providing bridge funding from now through 2030. Sen. Laird introduced SB 931 in January, and it has already passed the State Senate.
Now it's in the Assembly, working its way through committee. The first hearing, the Assembly Committee on Utilities and Energy, is scheduled for June 24. That's when parents and community members need to be heard. Your letter, in your own words, telling them how the loss of this funding is hitting your child, your school, and your community is what makes the difference.
It only takes 3 minutes. Fill in your name and address, generate a personalized PDF, and we'll walk you through uploading it to the committee and emailing state leadership.
Act now: Letters need to be sent ASAP to be in the included for the June 24 committee hearing.
