As a parent and community member of San Luis Coastal Unified School District (SLCUSD), I am writing to insist that PG&E honor its longstanding commitment to our local schools and families by reinstating ongoing financial support.

For decades, DCPP property tax revenues and Community Impact mitigation funds have sustained vital educational programs, teachers, counselors, and student services in our district. Community Impact payments end after the 2025–26 school year, and PG&E is projecting its DCPP property tax obligations to decrease to $700,000, resulting in more than $7 million in lost annual funding. This threatens teacher retention, student programming, and class size stability across our district.

As long as DCPP remains open, PG&E has a moral and civic duty to the community that makes the plant’s ongoing operations possible. We call on PG&E to commit $7.5 million annually to SLCUSD. This investment is not optional. It is the continuation of a shared responsibility to ensure local students benefit from the plant’s presence rather than pay the price for corporate accounting strategies.

We expect PG&E to demonstrate true stewardship and partnership by finalizing this commitment before the end of 2025. Our community is ready to collaborate on a sustainable funding plan that keeps our schools strong, our students supported, and our region resilient.

In 2021 you said, “I believe love and connection are essential to building a culture where people care for each other and our customers. I want every coworker and customer to know we care about them, and that starts with listening to you.” It’s time to live those words. Listening means action. Caring means investment. Leading with love means standing with the families and schools that have stood by PG&E for over 40 years.
