Legislation Affecting the SLCUSD Budget
(this page is still being constructed)
Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant (DCPP) is a heavily regulated entity, and its operations are governed by executive and legislative bodies in California. SLCUSD has been directly affected by SB 1090 in 2018 (which authorized community impact payments as part of decommissioning the plant) and SB 846 (which canceled decommissioning and authorized continued operations until 2030).
Senate Bill (SB) 1090
PG&E officially began the process of decommissioning DCPP in 2016 with an application to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). As part of that application, PG&E presented the CPUC with a $49.5 million agreement for mitigating the impact of the plant’s closure.
